2025-2026 Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) Program

Applications are now open for the 2025-2026 Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) Program!

The Teaching Artist in Residency (TAR) Program is a new initiative from GlassRoots that supports Teaching Artists to serve the greater community of Newark and the surrounding areas by passing on techniques of glassworking coupled with contemporary professional practices.

This position includes a financial compensation package for teaching but also includes the use of the entire GlassRoots facility to make and produce one’s own work.

GlassRoots will provide the Teaching Artist in Residency with several hours of studio time per week and limited on-site storage in exchange for leading the Youth Entrepreneurial Spirit (YES) Program.

Teaching Artist in Residency commitment and responsibilities:

  • Teach the YES Program once a week for 3 hours at an hourly rate
  • Assist in developing the YES Program
  • Be available for related meetings, tours, and shows
  • Assist participants with a final presentation
  • Commit to the entire run of the YES Program: a 12-15 week semester
  • Restrict your personal work time to standard business hours (9am- 9pm)

 

To Apply:

The Winter 2026 application is due by November 31, 2025. Both YES and TAR Programs will start January 15, 2026 and run through June 11, 2026. The YES program is held after school on Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30pm.

Priority is given to emerging and established artists with relevant teaching experience, a track record of proven community engagement and/or a rich exhibition history.
