GlassRoots | Peters Valley Fellows Exhibition 2022
Thank you to all who took part in our 2022 Fellows in the Fall Exhibit and Fundraiser!
Your ticket purchases, sponsorships and donations helped to fund our GlassRoots | Peters Valley Fellowship Program, which supports Newark young adults, ages 18-26, in pursuing education and careers in the arts and related professions. We were so proud of our Fellows and happy to see them present their work to family, friends, art enthusiasts, and members of our board! Exhibit guests enjoyed direct access to the artists and heard them give firsthand accounts of their processes and inspirations. Special thanks to Congregation Ahavas Sholom in Newark for partnering with us to host the exhibit, and to NJPAC’s Jazz for Teens program for providing the talented musicians.
The GlassRoots | Peters Valley Fellowship is a free, immersive summer program hosted by GlassRoots in vibrant Newark, NJ and the enchanting Peters Valley School of Craft in rural Layton, NJ. Learn glassblowing, stained glass, blacksmithing, jewelry design and more! Professional artists will provide mentorship and professional guidance as you enjoy the camaraderie of your creative peers. All expenses are paid including housing, meals and transportation, and the Fellowship culminates in an exhibition mounted at both Peters Valley and GlassRoots.
The Fellows close out their summer with an Exhibition Opening Reception and Celebration Dinner at Peters Valley School of Craft. This event celebrates and showcases the accomplishments of the GlassRoots | Peters Valley Fellows. A catered dinner is served followed by presentations by each Fellow showcasing their work, inspiration and journey during the program. This event is open to the public.
In early fall, GlassRoots hosts a Fellows Exhibition and Graduation Celebration in Newark. Select artworks are curated for display at GlassRoots studios or an off-site location in Newark. Their mentor, multidisciplinary artist Ghislaine Sabiti, and past GRPV Fellows work with the current Fellows to curate a cohesive and enticing body of work to exhibit, sell and discuss.
