Ellen brings multifaceted talents to GlassRoots spanning the for-profit, non-profit, entrepreneurial & philanthropic worlds. She was the Chief Operating Officer at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, a premier, independent policy research organization & one of the architects of Essex County Construction Careers Consortium: a program that prepared and placed hundreds of low-income women & men from the greater Newark area in construction trade union apprenticeships.
Ellen was also a program officer for economic development & microenterprise development at the Ford Foundation in New York & South Africa. Today, she combines consulting with her own creative business as an independent designer. She owns & operates The Doll Loft a wholesaler & retailer of innovative sewing patterns & doll making kits. Ellen holds an MBA from Columbia University.
